Miracle or Just a Great Product? by Hannah Shanks

Miracle or just great product?

Naturally, my hair is that colour that can only summed up by one word: “Meh”. It’s just a boring mousey brown that makes me feel mousey. So, when I turned 16, like most teenagers do, I started experimenting and yes, when I had big blonde chunks I felt like the coolest girl in town, sadly I was under a misconception and in-fact looked like a dishevelled badger.
So when I turned 17, a year older and wiser, I went blonde. The transformation, of course, wasn’t a smooth one. The ginger roots didn’t exactly scream Hollywood glamour as I had hoped, but practice made perfect (e.g I went to a professional salon and stopped making a hash job of it myself). Now every 6 weeks give or take depending on how much money I’ve spent on this week’s MUST-HAVE dress I get my hair dyed, whether this is at my “home-home” of Nottingham or my adoptive home of Leeds.
The hazard of looking like the blonde bombshell as I do (please keep comments to yourself here) is: using all this strong blonde dye is making my hair, to put it as frank and eloquently as I can… crap. The ends get dry and my mood whilst trying to tame the wild beast on my head becomes as unmanageable as my hair; until I was introduced to the wonderful world of RUSK.
I was given a sample bottle of their Deepshine Oil and whether this be a bottle of magic or finally a treatment that works, my hair became extremely soft and glossy in two minutes. Finally a product that makes my hair look shiny – but not in a goes–greasy–looking-after–five–minutes sort of way. The best bit was literally the tiniest drop made my hair gorgeous for a good five days. One word: chuffed!
So whether you dye your hair platinum blonde like me or Rhianna red or Kardashian black give RUSK a go.
RUSK Deepshine Oil is available from Sally Salon Services RRP: £9.98

Leeds Fashion Show Sponsored by Trinity Leeds

Model fom Leeds Fashion Show

Report by Hannah Shanks:
Dress Me Beautiful by Leeds Fashion Show, sponsored by Trinity Leeds, was a night of glitz and glamour that you wouldn’t expect from a Northern City.

Entering the Leeds City Museum we were greeted by photographers and the most stylish looking people I have ever seen!

The night started by the very beautiful presenter Simone Daly Richards, who brought her own sass and style to the event truly bringing the event to life.

Every dress that went down the catwalk caught my eye, especially the Accent diamante dress, although anything with a bit of glitter and I’m there!

The men’s wear from Chimp and Fresh to Death was street, with a smart edge with Fresh to Death offering fantastic jackets.

The Autumn/ Winter leather trend was used in ways that was subtle and usual, from The Dancing Dolls clothes offering a hint of the dominatrix to Magic Number 3 proving leather can be smart as well as sexy.

The coloured collar theme that Cross Culture provided was fun, fantastic and kept the theme of the collection tied nicely together.

Kelly Ewing offered a very Vivenne Westwood style collection; even producing a tongue in cheek “sack” dress, reminiscent of something Westwood would have produced herself in the 80’s.

The Spring Summer collections as provided by Run and Fell gave us an insight into what we can expect next year, offering some fantastic tshirts; simple yet very stylist.
Sighs and Whisper’s collection of hats and Lady M’s lingerie gave depth and Varity to the show.

After the interval we saw the second half of the show starting with a beautiful collection of maternity clothes from Phenomode.
The Dazarocks’ typical English hunting style clothing gave a fantastic variation from the street style dominating the show.
Paring the Crystal Padmore- Coincide collection compared to the Daize spring/summer 2012 collection allowed us to see just how exciting and inventive the designers have been with their collections, from the wool inspired wintery look to the light flowing florals of summer.
The closing collections from Domanska and Stay Retro offered the audience some of the cutest dresses I have ever seen.

In all the show was a triumph, it ran smoothly and proved that Leeds can provide just as much talent as the rest of the country and I believe has helped truly put us on the map.
