SLB PR appointed by Andrew Barton to manage his personal public relations

We are really excited to tell you all about our most recent appointment to manage the personal PR of celebrity stylist Andrew Barton.

We have worked with Andrew since 2013,  promoting his range of electrical styling products, available exclusively at Argos. Our new role is to ensure a cohesive management of the PR activity generated by his various company partnerships and charity ambassadorships.

With over three decades of hairdressing experience Andrew is renowned as hairdressing royalty and holds a string of awards including British Hairdresser of The Year and British Hair Icon. Best known as the hairdresser expert from hit TV make over show, 10 Years Younger, Andrew has an extensive roster of creative collaborations from fashion to beauty, arts to celebrity.

One of the UK’s most celebrated hairdressing names, his work graces global magazines from cover to editorial, TV campaign to print advertising and is on speed dial to the British beauty press for his hair authority.

The figurehead of his own hairdressing empire with an award-winning signature hair care range and electrical tools, Andrew is in demand. Creative Director for Urban Retreat at Harrods, one of the world’s biggest hair and beauty destinations, he leads the hair team’s creativity.

A voice for British hairdressing Andrew travels the world sharing his signature hair philosophy presenting hair education and works tirelessly to promote its export, success and nurturing new talent. And works with various hair related brands to elevate their position and PR as well as help shape their delivery.

Beyond his high media profile and hairdressing work Andrew is actively altruistic and supports various charitable causes including The Princes Trust as a celebrity ambassador and a patron of his native Yorkshire.

In 2018 Andrew will showcase his passion for hair in a unique, international touring exhibition named “Beehives, Bobs and Blowdries” debuting in his native Yorkshire.

Andrew says, “ I have known Sharon and her team for many years and this formal appointment is a natural progression from the success of our working together in recent years. I have several projects in the pipeline, including a major exhibition in 2018, which require dedicated PR support and SLB PR were my first choice.”

SLB’s first Fashion Show of 2016

Show: ART SCHOOL for Fashion East

Date: Saturday 7th January

Venue: The Old Selfridges Hotel

What we did: sign off sponsorship with Jonathan De Francesco, deliver tools, liaise between client and creative hair team, host press and introduce journalists to creative team on the day, submit press release and show images to trade publications

No rest for the wicked… And by ‘the wicked’ we mean our many talented friends and clients shaping high fashion worldwide. First up on the fashion calendar for 2017 is of course London Men’s AW17. The highlight of which, for us, was ART SCHOOL at Fashion East’s Menswear Presentation where we worked backstage with session stylist Jonathan De Francesco on behalf of Babyliss Pro.

If you’re unfamiliar with Fashion East, it is a non-profit initiative headed up by Lulu Kennedy and backed by Topshop and it was created to nurture emerging design talent providing bursaries, free venues, photography, catwalk show production, mentoring and PR support to the next big things in fashion. Notable graduates of the scheme include Richard Nicoll, Holly Fulton, Jonathan Saunders, House of Holland, Gareth Pugh, Marios Schwab, Louise Goldin, Roksanda Ilincic and Meadham Kirchhoff.

No doubt hoping to join that list of fashion heavyweights are ART SCHOOL by design duo Eden Lowreth and Tom Barret. Inspired by Ballet Russes and Bauhaus their debut collection with Fashion East ART SCHOOL’s was a performative presentation celebrating non-binary identities and how people personally navigate their own style. Lines between genders were blurred as androgyny took over, and the designers told the story of queer style and hinted at new ground to be covered.

Fresh from working with Poppy Delevigne and Taylor Hill on Love Magazine’s 2016 Advent Calendar hair stylist Jonathan De Francesco was challenged to create 13 different looks on 13 very different boys and girls to acknowledge their individuality. Although each look was different, the main theme echoed the feeling of old wealth with theatrically exaggerated shapes.

The looks were created by prepping the hair with volume using the BaByliss PRO Italia BRAVA dryer, and shapes were created using a variety of different sizes of the BaByliss PRO Dial-a-Heat tongs, particularly the 13mm and 19mm tongs.

Jonathan said “The complete control you get over the tools is essential for creating these looks. The shape is the most important thing and without this control, the shapes would not exist.”

Welcome Scream Hairdressing

It’s a great time for SLB! We’re building the team, planning super exciting projects and working with new clients!

Our latest appointment, Scream, is a well known salon in Preston, owned by Shruty Stephenson.

Shruty has built up an impressive portfolio working alongside top session stylists such as Adam Reed, Anthony Turner and Guido Palau on shows at London, Paris and Milan Fashion Weeks including: House of Holland, Mulberry, Versace and Dolce & Gabbana.

Shruty also recently graduated from the ‘Hair: Mastered’ course where she worked closely with industry legend Sam McKnight, who is responsible for almost 40 years of iconic hairdressing.

We have known for Shruty for years through her work with brands such as BaByliss PRO, so it’s great to be working with her and raising the profile of the salon!
