So we’ve blown the dust off the Champers (imagine us having it unopened that long!) as we celebrate winning Best Integrated Campaign at the CIPR (Chartered Institute of Public Relations Awards) for Made Up Leeds, with our partners in crime, Umpf PR and LeedsBID.
Made Up Leeds
Made Up Leeds is a free, two-day, inclusive event going beyond beauty, covering make-up in all its forms for all people. The inaugural festival from LeedsBID last September included demos, makeovers, speakers and 100+ offers from the city’s biggest cosmetic brands. It aimed to increase cosmetics sales and footfall by tapping into a large demographic. And it worked!!
Highlights included a Harvey Nichols make-up pop-up at the station, a John Lewis hair salon in a converted shipping container on Briggate, PAs by Lewys Ball (@LookingforLewys), Georgia ‘Toff’ Toffolo, Body Fixer’s Danny Richo, Sanna and Shaheen Kauser (@lookamillion and @mummillion), celebrity hairdresser Andrew Barton and make-up expert Ruby Miller MBE. Michael ‘Gisele’ Allan hosted a drag masterclass plus 2018 Love Islanders Kaz Crossley and Alexandra Kane made over two competition winners.
All retailers reported an increase in sales with some saying it was the best trading day of the year and as good as Christmas.
